This program is tailored to augment your current curriculum, enhancing your understanding of critical topics in healthcare. Cultivate expertise in cultural competency, behavioral health integration, interprofessional care coordination, healthcare reform, and quality improvement. The online curriculum includes engaging videos, journal articles, and online certificate programs to enrich your learning experience.
Be Part of an Interprofessional Team and Make a Difference
As an AHEC Scholar, you won’t be alone in this journey. You’ll be part of an interprofessional team, working together to make a positive impact on communities. Through various community-based projects and experiences, you’ll apply your knowledge from the didactic education in real-life scenarios, making you a more well-rounded and effective healthcare professional.
To be eligible for the AHEC Scholars Program, you must currently be matriculated into an accredited allied health or health professional degree/certificate program. We welcome those with a genuine interest in improving the health quality of individuals in underserved healthcare communities.
Throughout the two-year program, each AHEC Scholar will complete 40 hours of didactic education and 40 hours of community-based experiential training per year, totaling 80 hours for both components.

Each AHEC Scholar will be a part of an interprofessional team of students. Through various community-based projects and experiences, participants will apply their knowledge from the didactic education in their interactions with the community and become more well-rounded students.
